Wroxall village mapped out
Background
The village of Wroxall that stands today was substantially built during the late 19th Century, predominantly as cottages for estate workers at Wroxall Abbey. Built along School Lane opposite the original Wroxall Village School, the village comprises around a dozen small semi-detached Victorian cottages and a smaller number of larger detached houses, including Broughton Lodge, formerly the Working Men’s Club and converted in the early 1990s, and the more substantial Manor House, built with an adjoining farmyard further along Manor Lane.
Once a civil parish belonging to the church, Wroxall now forms a part of the “four parishes” Beausale, Haseley, Honiley and Wroxall (BHHW) parish council.
